Devlog 4: Walk Cycle


Initial Research

I used this reference to see where the legs would be for the character. I also focused on the height of the character's head.Two Kinds of Walk Cycles - IdeaRocket

Work-in-progress

You can see in the previous upload of the game where there was a practice walk cycle of the character before I went into more detail with the character design you see now. There previously wasn't any movement in the character besides the legs.

Principles Applied

The squash and stretch was more implied with the movement of the character going up and down. I didn't exaggerated it much since there are limited pixels to use. There is overlapping with the legs that and the cloak slightly moves to with the character. I followed the arc of the head movement shown in the reference before.

Reflection

Since the character doesn't have arms, the most I can add to the character is movement in the cloak itself. I don't know how much I would want to add but later animations can show it moving with the character as it interacts with the world around it.
